Talmud Torah Board of Directors

Board of Directors

The Talmud Torah Board of Directors consists of six representatives of Adath Jeshurun Congregation, six representatives of Beth El Synagogue, and six at-large members.  The Board includes the Presidents of both congregations.  The Board also benefits from the active participation of the Senior Rabbis and Executive Directors of both synagogues and past Talmud Torah Board presidents, who serve on the Board in a non-voting capacity.

The Board has four standing committees: Finance, Fundraising, Family Connections, and Marketing/Communications.  Other committees are formed as needed to address specific projcets or initiatives.

The Board has ten meetings scheduled during this school year.  The Board President for 2016-2017 is Dan Weiss.   If you are interested in serving on the Board or a committee, now or in the future, please feel free to contact Dan at weiss042102@msn.com.  There is much to do, and we welcome your involvement!

Strategic Planning

From June 2014 through March 2015, the Board of Directors engaged in a strategic planning process to refine Talmud Torah’s mission and vision, identify its strengths and challenges, and establish specific goals for the next few years that will improve the quality of the educational experience for our students.  A committee of members from Adath Jeshurun and Beth El synagogues led the process, with guidance from the consulting firm of Parenteau Graves and participation from Talmud Torah's faculty and staff and the boards of both synagogues.

This process produced a Strategic Plan with new Mission and Vision Statements, a Statement of Distinction, and strategic goals for 2015-2018.  Click here to view the plan.

Another important outcome of this process was the development of a Brit (covenant), entered into by Adath and Beth El leadership in May 2015 on behalf of their respective congregations.  The Brit's purpose is to provide a foundation and guidance for the congregations' joint operation of Talmud Torah.  The Brit sets forth the overriding fundamental principles of their collaboration, and the commitments they make, to fulfill the school's new mission and vision.
