Dear Kitah Gimel (3rd grade) Families,
Just like that there is snow on the ground! We can’t believe we’ve already had almost two months of classes together. We are so proud of the energy and enthusiasm our students bring to each class and are excited to maintain this ruach as we move forward in the year.
In Sofya’s class we continue working on Hebrew numbers and letters. The last few weeks our main focus in class is the book I Can Read Hebrew page 35. The letters that we reviewed so far are: ת, ש, ר, ד, ל, ב, מ, ם, נ, ן, ג, ה, ח, י, א, ע, ק, כ, ך, ז
One of my main goals in class is to involve as many students as possible to participate. We use a whiteboard to write Hebrew and our textbook to read Hebrew.
In Polly’s class, students learned about the holiday of Sukkot, discovering the guidelines to building a sukkah and brainstorming ways we might dwell in our sukkot. We learned that a sukkah must be at least 3 feet tall, have a natural roof, and can even be built on a boat or the back of a camel! We also observed some interesting, out of the box sukkot in the video Sukkah City. Moving forward we will begin our Rosh Hodesh unit, learning about the Jewish calendar and how we use the moon to track the months of our year.
We are committed to staying connected with you despite our physical distance apart. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you have or stories you wish to share. We look forward to connecting with you!
B’Shalom,
Polly & Sofya
