3rd Grade (Gimel) Class Update

Gimel 1 & 2

Dear Kitah Gimel (3rd grade) Families,

We are consistently impressed by our students' energy and enthusiasm they bring to class. After months of virtual learning they still show up to class with smiles on their faces!

In Sofya’s class we enjoyed studying Hebrew in many different ways. We play and create our own games like Bingo, pantomine and a wheel of fortune. In our Hebrew book The New Siddur Program we are on Page 58 Chapter 6. We learn and communicate in Hebrew. We are all enjoying our classroom community.

In Polly’s class, students celebrated Tu B’Shvat, the birthday of the trees! We learned about the history of planting trees in Israel and some of the amazing innovations that help Israeli farmers grow food in the desert. Students then created their own innovations in their journals to protect and save the trees. Now as we approach Purim, we are reading the story of Esther’s courage and reflecting on our own courage with “What would you do?” scenarios. Over the next few classes we will have fun dressing up, playing games, and shaking our graggers!

We hope your family is staying safe and warm, and wish you a Chag Purim Sameach!

B’Shalom,

Polly & Sofya

Gimel 3

Dear Kitah Gimel 3 (3rd grade) Families:

Our Kitah Gimel 3 students continue to build their reading skills. They continue to learn vocabulary for stories and prayers from their reading textbook,The New Siddur Program.

In Polly’s class, students finished their unit for Shabbat. For Tu B’Shvat, the class discussed why trees are important and why we plant trees in Israel. The students learned that in Israel, special innovative techniques for planting trees in the desert have been developed. Students also learned about the seven species of food and trees/plants in Israel. To conclude the unit, we brainstormed how we can take care of our Earth and trees!

We are consistently impressed by our students' energy and enthusiasm they bring to class. After months of virtual learning they still show up to class with smiles on their faces!

L’shalom,

Etta and Polly
