Updates from Our Head of School

Dear Talmud Torah Families:

I am amazed at the adaptivity of your students as they enthusiastically participate in their TT Zoom classrooms week in and week out! They are connecting with their friends, engaged in serious Jewish learning, having fun, and (whether they realize it or not) continuing to collect important tools for living intentionally Jewish lives.

All of our faculty and staff greatly appreciate the partnership you provide in support of your student’s success, especially by protecting their scheduled TT class time from distracting interruptions or the scheduling or other activities. I know all too well the challenges of trying to separate home space/time and work (or school) space/time, and how easily those domains can become blurred when they ALL take place in your home!! I know that it takes intentionality for all of us to make it work.

As a reminder for students, here is the short checklist that they received at the very beginning of the school year that is still VERY IMPORTANT for them to remember and follow in our virtual classroom spaces:

TALMUD TORAH OF MINNEAPOLIS DISTANCE LEARNING 2020 VIA ZOOM!

  • STEP 1 – DRESS for school.

  • STEP 2 – Use the bathroom BEFORE class.

  • STEP 3 – Get your school supplies READY.

  • STEP 4 – Find a QUIET place with no distractions.

  • STEP 5 – Log in a few minutes EARLY.

  • STEP 6 – Turn on your device, face the CAMERA and put on your headphones.

  • STEP 7 – MUTE your microphone until the teacher calls on you.

  • STEP 8 – Participate with KAVOD (RESPECT) in speaking, writing & appearance.

PLEASE REMEMBER DURING CLASS TIME:

  • Your VIDEO should remain “ON”

  • NO fancy virtual BACKGROUNDS

  • Please stay on TOPIC

  • Please don’t EAT during class…save it for the BREAK!

You can download this list HERE to print out and share with your student.

L’shalom,

Hazzan Jeremy Lipton, Head of School
